If you're anything like me as a parent, then you’ll know that sometimes all it takes is seeing your child walk into the studio in their uniform — and before they’ve even started dancing, your heart has already melted. You find yourself snapping a million photos, trying not to cry, completely overwhelmed with pride. This happens to me every time I watch my own children at school events or activities!
Whenever I’m teaching at Just Dance, I love taking a moment to look at the crowd of parents during Watching Week. Every single face is beaming with pride, joy and pure love.
Watching Week is such a special time — not just for you as parents, but for the children too. They feel immense pride showing you what they’ve been learning, and there’s such excitement in having the chance to perform. It’s also a brilliant way to build confidence and learn how to manage a few of those inevitable nerves.
We invite you into the studio to see the magic that happens each week — the little moments, the progress, the joy. You’ll get to see their favourite routines and celebrate how far they’ve come.
To make the most of Watching Week, here are a few gentle tips:
Chat to your child beforehand about what they’re excited to show you
Arrive a little early to settle in without disrupting the class
Stay focused during the session – avoiding chatting or phone use really helps the dancers feel supported and stay engaged
If siblings are coming, bring a quiet activity for them
And of course, be ready to cheer, clap, take photos (maybe not quite as many as me – I won’t tell you what number my camera roll is on!) and soak up every proud moment
Watching Week is a celebration of growth, connection and joy — and we can’t wait to share it with you.
